Info Post
I feel like I have a good grip on the paint situation here in our casa because I finally got around to doing things I have been wanting to do for quite some time.  It feels fantastic!

I started out by organizing our paint bins, so now we know where to find our tools and paint supplies are when it comes time to get our painting on.  Then, I transferred all of our paints into smaller, easy to use touch up paint jars.  Love.

Many of you mentioned that I should add the room/project and paint codes on the jars as well.  But I didn't for a few personal reasons {what works for each of us is always different right?}:
  • The jars tops were small and my labeling space was limited.
  • I use the same color in multiple rooms and for additional smaller projects.
  • I most likely wouldn't want to take my touch up paint jars out with me when searching for additional room elements or having more paint mixed.
So, the paint reference printable was born instead.

It was super simple for me to print out a few of the sheets, and only took me an episode of Glee to fill it all out.

I basically just walked from room to room, jotting down paint projects from each space, then, used the original paint cans to transfer over all of the details.

The most important part for me, was adding a swatch of the color to the sheet.  That way, when I am out and about, I can have my entire home's color palette with me.  That will be ever so helpful when looking at accessories and fabrics or when I think I have spotted that perfect piece of furniture.

Q-Tips worked great for adding the paint colors to the document.

I am by no means a paint expert, so hopefully all of the details I have listed would quickly be able to get me a replacement can of paint in a crunch {brand, color name, sheen, paint code and a swatch}.  I also found this paint website to be helpful in finding out details for my current paint colors as well.

As for where I will be keeping the actual list of colors?  I am in the process of working on another project that this list is perfect for!  So stay tuned for those details soon {hint hint, it includes a binder}.
